I noticed on your website that Cast also supports the Autodesk .FBX file format. Can you describe best practices to use this format?
We also noticed that the file origin (0,0,0) with a few other file formats (.OBJ and .3DS) is not always respected. We checked the origin in a few other program and it was correct, in WYSIWYG it was off a few meters in each direction.

.FBX files simply import; we do not have any "best practices" information to provide except that if you want textures to come across, they must be burned onto the model within the file. (The same applies for models saved in .3DS, .OBJ and .DAE files.)

We are familiar with the issue you mentioned and it is scheduled to be addressed in R43.

Are there any advantages for .FBX over other formats? Which one works the best in your opinion? The source program can export to many file formats which results in different file sizes for the intermediate file. Which one delivers the most flexible end result in terms of layers, textures, etc.?

There are no advantages to importing .FBX files.. as far as WYSIWYG's importing routines are concerned, .FBX, .3DS, .OBJ and .DAE files are the same. (There ARE inherent differences between these file types though, so if you need them for something else, it may be beneficial to choose the one/s that is/are most appropriate to your other work.)
