Does anyone know if a simple side arm is in the accessory library?? Also, does anyone know if I can draw a side arm and then add it to the library? Thanks
The short answers are 'no' and 'no'. There are no such items in the Library because it would be hard for us to guess all the various different lengths that users might require, and because they are very easy to create: simply draw a Pipe and Group it with the truss (or Pipe, if you're "side-arming" off a pipe). Depending on how the side arm attaches to the truss, it may be easier to draw the Pipe from its Start point -- which you can do by setting this option in Document Options > Hang Structure Settings (before you start drawing it). For the time being, the concept of a cheeseborough (which would be used in real life to attach the side arm to the truss) doesn't exist in wysiwyg but that is definitely on the list to add asap**. (This is why Grouping is highly recommended for now... once cheeseboroughs become available, they will "do the grouping for you", of course. ) As for making these part of the Library, this is not possible because at the moment, users can only create their own Library Objects, not Truss.. so if you were to do this, you would not end up with a new item in the Truss library, and therefore you would not be able to hang fixtures on it. What you CAN do, however, if you don't want to draw a side arm every time you require one, is create an Insertable from it and then add/insert that when you need it. (Instructions for using Insertables are in the Reference Guide.) Cheers, Dany ** / P.S. Also on the list is "dynamic Library items", which WILL enable us to add a Side Arm object to the Truss library and let the user define its length -- so once that's there you won't have to draw a Pipe for your side arms anymore. Neither of these features are coming in the next version of wysiwyg, R45, but we may be able to add them in the following version.
