    Hey guys
I work at a rental- and production house, and we are now the proud owners of a d3 4x4 media server.
Now we are trying to improve our workflow, as we are using wyg for all of our renders/(or shaded view), and would love to use the same drawing in the visualization in d3.

d3 needs an OBJ file with UV maps (the virtual projection surface). We have been using Blender to create the OBJ file either from scratch or from an exported dwg file from WYSIWYG.

I hate doing things twice - do any of you guys have a clever way of making it easier?

Some days ago I met and talked to Gil (CAST CEO), and he asked me to put OBJ export on the CAST feature request. FYI Dino Mazza ;)

    Hi Bo,

Thanks for posting your suggestion/idea for adding OBJ Exporting functionality to WYSIWYG. Your suggestion has been received and I can confirm it is on the CAST Feature Request list. I also did hear from Gil about your discussion upon his return to the office, and he mentioned the OBJ Export feature request to me, which I’ve committed to researching once some time frees up after the R37 release is complete.

As with each of our customer’s suggestion/feature requests, all of them make it onto our list, and we investigate how to develop and deliver the feature. We work on delivering on all of our customers’ requests, but as you know from your Beta Testing participation, this is not always possible immediately as there are many users and many requests, and sometimes it takes more than one release to deliver on a particular feature, depending on many factors, such as dependencies on other code, development effort required, etc.

Sounds like you currently have a working solution, although it requires some duplicate effort. If we have any ideas that can speed things up for you in the interim, we will definitely share them with you.

    Cheers,
    Dino

    Hey,

I was wondering if there was any update regarding a future OBJ export option with Wyg. As a D3 user and 3D projection mapping designer, an OBJ export option would greatly improve my workflow. I love WYSIWYG and feel this would greatly improve the product. Thank you
