Hi, Recently I've been doing a lot of paperwork for a couple of upcoming projects and during this is stumbled upon a couple of things that I would really like to see implemented in the paperwork that would make it easier to create a lot of prints without having to go through all of them one by one. My first major point is the possibility to have text labels function as an object with properties so if I insert a text line (legal info, rights, etc) this could be copied on to other layouts. I know that I can clone stuff but if I have to update the text after cloning ill have to go through all of them to update. basically I would like a system that works as the "production info" sheet that updates throughout the document? Next up I would like to be able to include renders of stage objects, currently I create a render of what ever I need and import this as an image how ever it would be nice to insert a view (shaded) and manipulate that directly from the paperwork. I imagine this working as the insert cad or worksheet ect. Third idea: Opacity in worksheets, some times I find myself either having to downsize everything to a point where everything fits but its too small to read/view or I'll have to layer stuff on top of each other, in this case it would be a major quality of life improvement to just turn opacity down so that I won't loose any info. Last up (and maybe its just me) I work on different computers from day to day and I spend ALOT of time re-inserting pictures (logos and what not) and I do not understand why this has te be tree structured, currently if I create a drawing it will use the following: C:mycomputer_1/dropbox//folderx/source Now if I go to another computer ill have to redo the path so it goes C:mycomputer_2/dropbox/folderx/source This seems a bit over the top complicated as opposed to just including the picture directly in the file? - Christoffer
Hi, I have a question about your first request. Is it possible to use worksheets to insert texts? In the worksheet you are able to include some fields that auto update as you change them. Also I would like to see the paperwork (especially layouts) to be resolution and printer setting independent. If you open a layout on a computer with different screen resolution and printer setting, placement of items such as logo's can be off by a considerate amount. So each time I want to print a plot on a different machine I have to redo my layout to tidy things up. Quite annoying...
What I usually do is to use the text insert but I haven't really found a way of having them auto update no? not sure if I understand the question correctly though? And yes that would be Wonderfull! I currently work on 3 different stations that range from a 15 inch 4k monitor to a ultra wide 3400 x 1200 and that creates quite the difference, especially if I have other people printing some of the sheets it gets all kinds of wild!
I work between three systems, Home, Office, on site. all different screen sizes. For printing I just gotten into habit of printing to pdf as an Arch D drawing as I do print to plotter for larger shows. but if I need to downscale the print job I can use the fit to page / scale to page and print tabloid (11 x 17) or letter (8.5 x 11) Part of this was as Floriaan said having to reposition the layout views to tidy things up. Wish there was a way to select the whole layout and rescale to new page size. either an auto function or select and drag / snap to page edges. Overall I wish layout offered more appearance setting offerings. options to better center items and set snap points. I know it's on the list just not sure what or when they will roll out.
I often just output a basic CAD view then drop that into a third party program (I use Omnigraffle) to create “layouts”. I find this gives be good consistency between LX, Video and sound plots.
