    Hello everyone,

    I’d like to provide a quick update to our development timeline, which, like everything else, has been impacted by COVID-19. (It looks like we are slowly nearing the end of this though, so we hope to be back to at least somewhat “normal” by the end of the year.)

    WYSIWYG R47 will build on R46’s success by adding more features that were requested by you, our users. The most important of these are MVR Merging & Exporting, connection to MA Lighting’s Viz-Key (which will enable the connection to grandMA 3 onPC) and Chroma Keying (which will allow parts of videos to become transparent). Other features & improvements, bug fixes and, of course, the usual Library Updates, will round out this version, which is due in July.

    The two new products we announced in September last year have been delayed as a result of the pandemic, but we have made great progress on both! Perform Lite (which will be like Perform in every way, but limited to simulating only 10,240 DMX channels or 20 full universes) will be available for purchase this summer. The “Live Mode-only” product, WYSIWYG Connect, will take a bit longer still, and we will release more details about it later this year.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Dany

    Hi Dany

    Thanks for the update! What will the difference between the "Perform Lite" and "Live mode-only" be?

    Thanks

    My understanding is that Perform Lite is the same as WYG Perform except a smaller number of dmx channels available to control (20 full universes) whereas Live Only Mode is just a visualiser, no CAD section or design mode. You can connect a console and load any .wyg file but only to previs, nothing else.

    Part of the fun with live only mode is also being able to package a design and sent it to someone that does not own wyg, so they can look around in the file and connect it to their own console.
    See this post.

    @Lucas Story is absolutely correct about the difference between WYSIWYG Perform Lite and WYSIWYG Connect. To expand on the latter just a bit though, WYSIWYG Connect will allow:
    • .WYG files (no other types) to open and save;
    • fixture's Patch and Spot Number (nothing else) to be updated;
    • the addition of, and connection to, any console or DMX protocol in the same manner as such connections are made when using WYSIWYG Perform / Perform Lite.

    Cheers,

    Dany

    Are you sure you referenced the correct post? I ask because self-contained files, which is what you seem to be referring to, are not the same as WYSIWYG Connect. Those constitute a much more complex feature, which we have no plans to work on this year.

    This was your complete quote. I was replying to the Wysiwyg Live Only product mentioned above, which is clearly something else then Wysiwyg Connect:

    Hello everyone, I just wanted to send this quick update, to mention to all those interested that, unfortunately, it will not be possible to include the connection to MA Lighting's Viz-Key in R47 Final. We've delayed this release to the middle of August so we can add some final touches to it, but even so, Viz-Key cannot happen by then.

    However, this connection will be released as part of an Update planned for the second half of September.

    I do apologize for the inconvenience I am sure this will cause to some of you, but the only alternative would be to hold the entire release back until then, and that wouldn't make sense, given that it is nearly ready.

    Thanks,
    Dany
