In Parallels 16 (released August 11, 2020), OpenGL 3.3 is enabled for all VMs (and an option for it to be changed (“lowered”) by the user is not available). While this would normally be great news (because visualization that was not possible in the past should now be possible) we’ve discovered that several OpenGL extensions (functions) that are required by wysiwyg are not actually enabled in Parallels. The result of this is Shaded View issues which may make it impossible to correctly render all effects. We are currently investigating and hope to find a solution to this issue soon. Workaround: Until OpenGL 3.3 support is fully-enabled in Parallels 16, or until Parallels offers a means for the user to set which OpenGL version it should use, the recommended way to use wysiwyg in the Parallels virtual desktop environment, is to roll back to Parallels 15. Alternately, BootCamp may be used – and is a superior choice.
Hi vaisanj, Unfortunately, there has not. We have contacted them to report their issue, and they have stated that they will collaborate with us in an attempt to solve it. The process is quite slow it seems, but we hope that they will address this problem soon. As stated above, unfortunately, this is out of our hands. We will post further updates when we have them. Regards,
Unfortunately, there is still nothing new to report here.. we are continuing to investigate, and this is turning out to be one of the most complex investigations we've ever conducted. I wanted to post this, so those watching this thread don't think we've forgotten about this. We do hope to have a fix in time for R46, but at this point, it is simply too early to tell.
I once too accidentally dived into the wormhole of Parallels tech support. I am still not sure if I came out at the other end at all. Good luck!
Hi All A solution has been found for the Shaded/Virtual View issues caused by Parallels 16. Please apply the steps detailed in the attached pdf to resolve the issue. If you still encounter the issue or experience some aberrant behaviour, due to the modification, please do let us know. Regards
