    Hi Everyone,

On behalf of the CAST team, I hope that this email finds you well and that you and your families and friends are keeping safe. Thankfully, I am happy to share that everyone at CAST is doing well.

These uncertain times have changed how we all live and work, and completely interrupted our development, but I am extremely proud of our resilient team at CAST! Even though everything has changed, our wysiwyg team adapted and, working under these new conditions, they committed to delivering R45 during the summer – and that they did, as wysiwyg R45 was released last week!

Even before the release though, the question on everyone’s mind was what’s next for wysiwyg, so this is what this email is about: to share with you what we plan to work on over the next few months...

Coming up in the fall, we are planning to release an Update to R45. This will be delivered via AutoUpdate, and will include several small improvements, as well as bug fixes and Library updates.

Following that, we plan to deliver R46 by the end of the year. Though this version will bring a number of new features, we’ve prioritized the following based on your feedback, and our development team has already started working on these key features:

    • MVR Import and Export – Phase 1 (with Phase 2 coming in R47)
    • Exporting .wyg files with textures
    • Shaded View performance improvements
Above and beyond this, together with R46, we will introduce two new products to our lineup: Perform Lite, which is a channel-limited Perform and will be intended for customers who only ever require a small number of DMX channels for their shows; next, a “Live Mode-only” Visualizer, which will operate similarly to our Console Demo, but will be able to open user-created files. This new Visualizer will be intended for console operators and others who never need to edit .wyg files, only pre-cue shows, or simply connect to consoles/lighting networks and visualize. More details about these products will be released when they become available.

I hope that the information I’ve provided here, along with our commitment to the aforementioned features, answers the questions you’ve had regarding wysiwyg’s near-future development plans.

All the best, and stay safe,

Would be great to have curved surfaces that would be entirely curved, not divided to separate surfaces

Completely curved surfaces do not exist in the computer world ... except as smooth shaded 3D which wyg already uses. I am in favor, if necessary with a popup warning for possible bad performance, to increase the number of surfaces of a round object from, I thought, 60 to a much higher number. This is a must, especially for large objects.
