Why do models imported from SketchUp appear "red"?

Many of you have asked this question; here is the explanation:

If all objects in a .skp file are placed on SketchUp's default 'Layer 0', which is red-coloured by default, this will indeed happen. Much like Vivien and AutoCAD and other similar applications, SketchUp features a layer system, and the colour of the layers is not always the same as the colour of the objects they contain (again, same as in Vivien, etc.). Please open the attached colours.skp and colours.viv files, and note how the objects on the left, which are on the 'magenta', 'cyan' and 'yellow' layers are coloured with these same colours (so they appear the same in Vivien, in both Wireframes and Virtual Views), but the objects on the right, which are on the default 'Layer 0' layer, appear coloured as intended in Vivien's Virtual View, but red in Wireframes.
