Hello all! I design lights long distance for a number of theatres around the US, and I've been trying to program using Hog4PC and visualize with WYSIWYG, but on the same computer. I realize there'll be some toggling back and forth between the two, and I have no problem with that. The issue I've run into is how to get WYSIWYG to listen to Hog4PC when they're running on the same device. I've got Hog4PC broadcasting sACN and WYSIWYG is set up to listen, but it's not recognizing a device. Is there any way to get around this?
I am not sure if Hog4PC is actually capable of outputting sACN. I'm not saying it's not, but I don't see High End allowing this, since if they did, no one would buy their consoles anymore. But that's besides the point. If you know for sure that Hog4 PC can output sACN, please see the following thread for information about connecting WYSIWYG to an sACN stream: http://forums.cast-soft.com/index.php?threads/connecting-to-art-net-and-sacn-streams.674/. (This thread may be found by searching this Forum for sACN.) Your better option, in my humble opinion, is to use the Hog 4 Connectivity Driver provided by High End (which is AutoFocus-capable). The following message (another thread related to connecting to the Hog 4, which may be found by searching this Forum for hog4) contains a link which fully describes the process of connecting to via this driver: http://forums.cast-soft.com/index.php?threads/hog-4-conectivity-issue.952/#post-2912. Regards,
Thank you so much! And then another question, and I'm sorry if it's an obvious one, but is an ethernet cable all that's required to connect the PC and the board?
Hog4PC - For every physical universe you have connected (widget, super widget, dp8k) it enables that same universe over sACN and Art-Net protocols. As Dany mentioned, running both locally it's better to use the Visualizer Stream and the Hog4 Connectivity Driver, as you won't require Hog4 Hardware.
